Does new iphone set up require accessing old iphone if cloud backup is available

Will I be able to set up my new iphone (13) by myself at home, if my old phone (6) is permanently dead, but is backed up in the cloud on my imac? Or will I have to go to my carrier? Im having new iphone 13 set up for my same ATT service and cell phone number, and delivered to my house today. The website says I'll need to turn on my new phone and follow instructions to set it up. I cannot tell if those instructions will require me to access my completely dead old iphone, or not.

Your carrier's "set up" of you iPhone is most likely only to have the SIM inserted. The rest should be up to you.

Restore your backup to your new phone following Apple's instructions in Set up your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Note too that it's possible to erase the iPhone and start it up again as a fresh device and then proceed to restore the backup from your old iPhone. See How to factory reset your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

Thank you David, I appreciate your answer! My old iphone is completely dead, won't turn on or charge at all (water damage) but thankfully it was backed up on the cloud so it sounds like I'll be able to transfer that backup data when I set up my new phone.

I'm just hoping that I don't have to go to the Apple or At&T store to set it up...last time I bought an Apple device I had to go to BOTH places to get it set up and I don't want to lose a whole day like that again. Again, thank you for offering your knowledge and Happy 4th if you're also American. :- )
