I would like to change access rights to my micro SD connected thru a hub.
not possible thru "get info" window or thru terminal with command "chmod"

How is the USB stick formatted? Some formats (especially those on a USB stick) do not have permissions or any access control.
What is stored on the USB stick? An OS or Time Machine backup? Those cannot be modified.

ExFAT has no permission capability. There is no way to restrict access.
I finally format the stick in APFS and adjust access permission

I guess not. But I have sometimes made an encrypted .zip file although the standard zip encryption is very weak and is easily cracked.
zip -re output.zip input_file.txt input_folder
zip -h show help
-r recurse into directories
-e encrypt

not a TM backup support, just some folders and kids pictures
