"An update is required to use mobile data on this iPhone", can someone please help???

Hi there. I have an iPhone X that for some reason on Friday gave me this message at a random time in the afternoon (after I had been using my mobile data all day) and since then no matter what I have done I cannot connect to my carrier's network, nor any other carrier (I switched out simcards to try).

For context, I updated to IOS 15.6.1 about a week and a half ago. When I go to Settings > General > Mobile Data it states: "An update is required to use mobile data on this iPhone". When I go to General > About > Parts and Services History it states that there is a 'Mobile Data Issue' and "Your iPhone is currently unable to access mobile data, or make and receive calls or messages". Next to 'Modem Firmware' it is blank as well. Apple Support utterly unhelpful and so I'm turning here. Here's a list of things I've already done which haven't worked:

  1. Turned mobile data on and off
  2. Turned airplane mode on and off
  3. Force reset my iPhone multiple times
  4. Popped the sim out and then back in
  5. Checked for carrier updates, as well as IOS updates on both phone and laptop (nothing popping up).
  6. Reset all my settings under General > Settings > Reset all Settings

At this point the only thing I haven't done is erase and reset my phone to factory settings although I made a backup using my iCloud yesterday to do so. The reason I've not is because when I go to do so a pop-up tells me that 'iPhone requires service, you will not be able to set up this iPhone after erasing. A mobile data update is required before it can be activated again'. Does this mean I will not be able to restore from a backup? If anybody could give me the faintest idea of what to do I would be so grateful, because I'm at my wit's end.

Literally have looked through every page you have linked already, I have done all of the things suggested and nothing has worked. Hence the message above. I cannot view anything under 'Mobile Data' because of the error message displayed.
