hi I wanted to try and text myself and see if I get a reply from myself like everyone else, but I don’t? I’ve tried restarting my phone, switching iMessage off and on again, but nothing works! I’m on IOS 16.0 by the way

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. For iMessage, let's verify that you have your phone number or email address selected with iMessage. Specifically there's a setting that says, "You can receive iMessages to and reply from." To do that, please go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Make sure that your mobile number, email address or both are selected. From there, let's test and see if you can reply to yourself and receive a message. This is a step that may help you.
