iMessages disappearing in macOS

messages are enabled in iCloud
all previous threads to/from a particular recipient disappear when sending a "new" message from within iMessage in macOS
sometimes entire threads disappear
sometimes signing out/back in, or re-syncing w/iCloud will bring everything back
this is quite a nuisance, please fix this!

iMessages not syncing Read notification on Macbook Pro I have seen others' comments or posts on this but still have not found a fix for it. I have been having this issue for years... For some reason when I open my laptop iMessage is still showing unread for a ton of messages that I have already opened/read on my iPhone or iPad. My iPad syncs them fine and it only seems to affect my Macbook Pro 2019. I have tried deactivating iMessage on all devices and reactivating it. Logging out and back in on all devices as well. Can someone please help me with recommendations?

iMessages not loading from iCloud I recently was looking for an old message, and when searching for it using the search bar, it didn’t return any results. I use iCloud for iMessages, and have plenty of space (over 30 GB remaining). I see others that have had this issue, but no relevant answers. Can anybody help? Just a couple notes: I recently switched from iCloud plus to AppleOne, but it doesn’t appear that this is the issue. Also, I have iMessages set to keep messages forever. Thanks! BW

iMessage Issue on Macbook I recently updated all of my apple devices, iPhone (IOS 17.3), iPad (17.3), and Macbook (Sonoma 14.3) and am having trouble sending and receiving messages on my MacBook. When I open messages, it says "Waiting for iCloud: iMessage will not be available until your Apple ID settings finish updating. You may miss messages as a result." I had contact key verification on so I turned it off hoping that it would fix the issue but it did not. I restarted my Mac and went through all of my iCloud and message settings and can't figure out how to fix the issue any help would be appreciated. Clarification: only having this issue on my MacBook.

We understand that you're having issues with Messages on your Mac. To help determine the best solution, we've got a few questions we'd like to ask.

You mentioned having iCloud for Messages enabled. Is this true for both your iPhone and Mac? Use Messages in iCloud - Apple Support
Do you have iCloud Keychain enabled for both devices? Set up iCloud Keychain - Apple Support
Are both your iPhone and Mac running the latest OS version?
