Apple watch password reset no longer working.

Hello there, tried to reset the password from the Apple watch today and the procedure detailed no longer works. If you place the watch on the charger, and then hold down the power button to show the power off screen, then hold down the crown, the watch just goes back to the 'bedside clock' nothing else.

Also tried the other method of force touching the power slider, but that did nothing either.

Tried this on five other watches and after the latest os-update none of them can be reset.

Any ideas. The watch has been removed from my iCloud account but wasn't powered up at the time and now I can't remember what the passcode was. 'Find my' is off but I have no way to pair it back to my phone.

Any help would be very gratefully accepted.
