Unlocking MacBook with Apple Watch

I had been using the feature perfectly then I must have updated because it stopped working. My Apple watch won’t unlock my computer. It says the signal is too weak but will randomly work if I move my watch further away. So for some reason if my watch is close to my computer it won’t unlock but moving it two feet away works. This is super annoying because naturally my wrist will be close to my computer and won’t unlock it. Anyone have any thoughts on how to fix this or why it’s happening?

Hello Unverandosinti,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. We understand that your Apple Watch no longer unlocks your MacBook. If you haven't already, make sure the software is up to date on your Mac, Apple Watch and iPhone. Keeping the software updated helps apps and features work as expected.

  1. Update macOS on Mac - Apple Support
  2. Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
  3. Update your Apple Watch - Apple Support

If the devices were already updated, try restarting each device. Restarting is a simple step that can resolve many unexpected behaviors.

  1. Shut down or restart your Mac - Apple Support
  2. Restart your iPhone - Apple Support
  3. Restart your Apple Watch - Apple Support

Let us know the results. Be sure to include any other steps that you may have tried.

Cheers!
