I have charges I don't recognise

Where are you seeing this charge exactly?
If its just an email, but o actual charge on your account, then its probably a scam.

Apple does not really confirm charges before charging you. It charges you, and then tell you you were charged.

Ask your credit card issuer or bank to help. They have better tools for detecting fraudulent charges.
