Only texts suddenly changed to landscape, and I don't know how

All of a sudden, my text messages changed to landscape orientation on my iPhone 8. I went to Controls, and the portrait mode was locked. I unlocked and tried just rotating my phone but it did nothing. I don't know how this happened, but I'd like to change it back to Portrait. (This is NOT happening in any other windows, either browser, mail, photos, calendar, etc.)

Hi sharonfromardmore,

The article Rotate the screen on your iPhone or iPod touch reviews the options for screen rotation. As this happens only in a single app, restarting the iPhone or forcing that app to close using Close an app on your iPhone or iPod touch would be good to try:

  1. "Double-click the Home button to show your most recently used apps.
  2. Swipe right or left to find the app that you want to close.
  3. Swipe up on the app's preview to close the app."

If still happening, use Apple Support to connect with AppleCare for further investigation.

Regards.
