Apple Watch Series 6 Bootloop and continuously trying to calling 911 after walking in Ocean.
I wore my Apple Watch while walking around “waist deep” in the ocean on holiday. I waterlocked it before getting wet and it’s been nonfunctional for over two weeks. Initially the watch began calling 911 multiple times while waterlocked in the water. I cancelled the call and eventually turned the watch off. Once I returned home and charged the watch it began the boot looping saga, I’ve tried resetting by holding the crown and button, doing it again while on the charger, and resyncing to my phone etc.
After two or three days the watch came back on just from turning it on like normal. It kept trying to call 911 so I disabled the autocall feature. The watch doesn’t respond when I push in the digital crown but registers when I scroll. I can’t seem to swipe up from the bottom to close apps or return to the home screen by pressing the crown and can only dismiss an app if the option is there when I scroll down. I also can’t close apps by pressing the side power button. The screen appears to be touch responsive and texts, vibrations etc function properly. When I press the side power button it prompts a 911, retrace steps, and power off features and this seems to be the default displayed when I wore the limited functioning watch. None of the buttons appear sunken in or stuck.
After two weeks of being partially functional I decided to place the watch in water lock mode and submerge it in a glass of warm water for 30 secs 2-3x then ejected the water with no change. I finally got sick of dismissing the emergency screen and decided to turn the watch off about 3 days ago and it’s continued to bootloop for the past week. I’ve tried resetting by holding crown and power button again both on and off charger, running hot water over the watch, submerging it in warm water, and letting it sit for two days. When it sits on the charger it seems to run a continuous bootloop. Nothing has seemed to work :(
Does anyone know of a fix or if this is this some manufacturing design flaw / software update issue? I’ve never had an issue with my watch in the 3 years i’ve had it. I have gotten it wet plenty of times with no issue even without having it water locked.
