Apple logo + red exclamation point stuck on screen

My series 3 watch is stuck on a screen with the Apple logo. It has sat on the charger for the past few days. I restarted it by holding both side buttons but the Apple does not go away. Now, my screen has a red exclamation point with apple support. The watch has been on the charger and I’ve tried to reset it several times. How do I fix this?

Hi there gpodj0621,

It looks like you joined the Apple Support Communities from a great starting point for your issue: If your Apple Watch shows an iPhone and a watch or a red “!”. Did you have a chance to follow all the steps offered on that page in the exact order which they appear?

Double-click the side button, then complete the following steps:

1. Make sure that an iPhone is nearby. The iPhone needs to have iOS 15.4 or later, it needs to be connected to Wi-Fi* with Bluetooth turned on, and it needs to be unlocked.
2. Put your Apple Watch on its charger.
3. Double-click the side button (the button below the circular Digital Crown) on your Apple Watch.
4. Follow the steps that appear on the iPhone.

If you have followed these steps and still have the issue, you may want to reach out to Apple Support directly for further assistance. You can reach out to them by clicking here: Contact Apple Support or over the phone by calling the number that is most local to your region: Contact Apple for support and service.

Kind regards!
