Sorry. The 2011 iMac can’t go any further than High Sierra. Microsoft no longer offers a version of office compatible with it. You’ll need to look for an alternative office suite or move on to a new machine. That one has had a good life. It’s time to move on.

imac 2011 does not support higher than version 10.13
you can use the free LibreOffice it runs on 10.13 System Requirements | LibreOffice - Free Office Suite - Based on OpenOffice - Compatible with Microsoft
otherwise you will need a new mac that will support macos 11 or newer
High Sierra 10.13 is the highest macOS version that a 2011 iMac can run.
I just received the machine as a gift,is there a way i can upgrade the hardware maybe.
2nd hand gift obviously ,as long i can use the machine for my office work il be grateful
No. Sorry.
That machine is obsolete.
There are no upgrades you can made that will allow it to upgrade to a supported version of macOS.
FWIW, LibreOffice is a free alternative to Microsoft Office and it will run in High Sierra. It might suit your needs.
and libraoffice can open and save as office documents too
