I am trying to update iMovie on my MacBook Pro but as it was first installed under a previous Apple ID Appstore won’t let me upgrade. Why can’t I have a new copy using my current ID? (ID was changed because I passed on my business so had to use a new email.) Current OS is Ventura 13.2.1 – not the 10.10 shown

Just to see what happens, try this procedure: To update/redownload iMovie 10, drag your iMovie 10 app from the Applications folder into the trash, but do not empty the trash. Sign in to the app store and open your purchases folder by clicking on your name at the bottom of the app store side bar. You will see your purchases displayed, including iMovie 10. Redownload/update iMovie from there. If not successful, drag your present iMovie app out of the trash and return it to the Applications folder.

Try signing in your old I.D. at the app store and see if it still works.
Or, if you can do so, try changing back to your old I.D. temporarily for updating purposes. If the old email is not active I'm not sure it it can be done, but maybe so. More info in this link:

Thanks Rich but I would need the old password. It seems ridiculous that I cannot simply download a new version with my current Apple ID.
