When you receive a text from someone not in your contacts, how to you find their originating phone number?

The phone number will be in the message list just above the message preview. If you open the message it will be at the top of the screen. If you tap on the icon at the top of the screen it will display more options, including “Info”. You can tap on Info to view all of the information about the sender that the phone knows.
