Did you buy it directly from Apple or an authorized retailer?

If not, then it is not “genuinely new”…

Enter the serial number here: Check Your Service and Support Coverage - Apple Support

If you bought a new device from an authorized retailer, the warranty will expire one year from date you purchased it.
