What can I do to get my watch to power or even charge? It won’t work since the update yesterday.

After you updated, did you restart your watch, which is something you should do after every update? Press the side power button until the swipe to power off shows up, then power off your watch. Wait a full minute, then press the side button to power back on. Give it a day or two to settle down as lots of data is reindexing after an update.
It is now charging but the charge won’t last for more than 4 hours. Before the update, it lasted almost 24 hours.
Yea, I powered it down. In fact. I left it off all night. I appreciate any more suggestion you might have.
Let's check your battery health. On your watch open Settings > Battery > Battery Health. Series 3 was released over 6 years ago and batteries don't last forever.
