  • Downloaded episode on Apple TV+ on Macbook
  • Trying to play it
  • Error: "This system cannot play this protected movie"
  • Computer is authorized
  • Only using one Apple ID


Incredibly frustrating. Ideas?

Request a Refund or a New License Key:

Has this always been the case? Or is this the first time playing this?


A. Refund from Apple:

If a purchase you've just made in iTunes, then go here: Request a Refund for Apps or Content that you Nought from Apple - Apple Support. Once refunded, attempt another purchase.


B. License Key:

If downloaded from a DVD you purchased, then contact the Motion Picture Studio, requesting a new key. As an example, go here for Universal: Contact Us | Universal Pictures Home Entertainment - Universal
