I need a monitor to set up my Mac mini. The only monitor I have available is my MacBook Pro and I need to know how to connect the MacMini. My MacBook is a 2009 model running OS X Capitan 10.11.6. How do I connect the MacMini so that I can set it up and actually use it to? I have a separate monitor, but I need to download the software to the MacMini so that I can set up and use the monitor. Thank you!

You cannot. The 2009 MacBook does not support being used as a monitor. You need to buy an actual monitor for the Mac mini, or connect it to a TV.
