Can’t receive text messages from android users

I have wasted hours on the phone with various levels of technical support, with my carrier, and Apple care. They have checked all settings, blocked contacts, reset network, etc. My friend an android has done the same in contacting their carrier completing the same. Each carrier blamed the other. My friend, the android user, has been able to send texts to two iPhone user…using the same carrier, AT&T. So is it my phone; especially if those texts go through from android to iPhone. Has anyone else experienced this and what did you get resolved? This has been going on since April.

Texts between platforms use SMS and MMS connections. These go through your carrier. First, to work SMS/MMS requires a cellular network connection and cellular data enabled; it cannot use Wi-Fi. On your phone you also have to go to Settings/Messages and turn on MMS. If you don’t see a switch for MMS your account is not configured correctly; you need to contact your carrier to “provision” MMS for your phone.
