Some contact birthdays won’t save. Is this issue fixed yet?

Seems like any contacts that I am trying to add a new birth date are having issues saving their birthday. This was working fine before, and I think the latest update may have broken it.

Replication steps: Open contact -> add Birthday -> click 'Done -> wait a few seconds and the birthday entered disappears.

I have tried it repeatedly for any new contacts that I have tried to add their birth date.

This has been an issue for at least 4 years and despite numerous reports on this Apple forum, it’s appalling that the issue is still not fixed.

Reporting this on iOS 17.2.1 on iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Shame!

Workaround - If you are having trouble saving the birthday without the year, this can happen if you use Gmail or other as default, but sometimes even with using iCloud -- Try this:

Set the year for the birthday to "1604." - For example, if the actual birthday is January 3, 1988 - Enter January 3, 1604 - It will save the birthday without the year. If you don't know the year, enter 1604 as the year. The birthday will appear in the contacts without the date. For example, it will look like January 3.

It's not the best option, I know - But it works.

Note: If the phone still refuses to accept it using 1604, the "workaround-workaround" is to update it on the Mac or PC with 1604, and it will work. Even worse, but it will work.

Finally - You can accept the current year (Terrible) when it updates via text but at least you'll get the birthday notifications.

Still have the same issue. The only way it will save is if you put in a year of birth. So if you don’t know, you can put it the current year. It will keep the birthdate… but the following year it will tell you they are one year old.

I’m so surprised Apple hasn’t fixed this bug yet. I was able to avoid putting in a year back in the earlier years of having an iPhone.
