Apple fault card banned

My card is banned because an app incorrectly charged my credit card and I called both the maker of the app and Apple on it. Apply claims my credit card company paid something, but they did not. I will not get a new card for this purpose but need to remove the alert on my iPhone to update my Payment information. I submitted a request and justification to Apple but have been ghosted by Apple (no response).

If you blocked the charge from your bank’s side, you are now in bad standing with Apple.

You must allow the charge to go through, and reverify the payment method so it can be used.


Once the charge has been completed, you can request a refund from Apple. If this was a free trial that renewed into a paid subscription, you will need to cancel the subscription.

Also, Apple does not ghost people, that is just a ridiculous claim. You can contact Apple support at any time.

You must allow the charge to go through, and reverify the payment method so it can be used.


Once the charge has been completed, you can request a refund from Apple. If this was a free trial that renewed into a paid subscription, you will need to cancel the subscription.

You won't be able to stop the alerts until you update your payment method. You must verify the existing one or add a new verifiable one.


If you did not block the card from your bank's side, then the payment would have gone through directly as normal and your card would not have stopped being verified from Apple's side.


At this stage you must verify the existing card, or add a new one that can be verified.


Again, charges cannot happen randomly or by mistake by the merchants. Subscriptions to apps are handled direclty by Apple, and only charge you if you started them. If you downlaoded a free app, that had a free trial, those will in most cases renew into paid subscriptions which will charge you. The Merchant doesn't have any real involvment in those charges.


If you failed to cancel it, then it charged you. It went through and you complained, but clearly something esle happened to cause the card to no longer be verified with Apple. Normally this should only happen if you blocked the charge from your bank or card issuer's side. Apple will not just randomly cause a card to stop being verified.


Add a new card to verify the current one to stop those alerts.

I have always been under the assumption, that you just need to verify the card again. Apple is clear that they don't themselves deny cards.


The card may need to be removed, and re-added to the account, but I doubt Apple actually bans functional payment methods.

As I said, I've never seen this as any kind of policy. But, it does seem to happen. Or, people are mistaken. Or, the process is too hard. Or, people don't read the instructions. We live in a world of possibilities. ;-)

Apple and a vendor charged incorrectly, and I objected to the vendor and to Apple. When neither replied and the charge went from pending to completed (a week later), I disputed the invalid charges; Apple claimed my credit card company made some sort of partial payment, but that is not true because my credit card had made full payment. I cancelled the dispute when the invalid (fraudulent) amount was refunded by someone (unclear by whom) so my credit card company ended their investigation.


This has been a real pain, and Apple is not helping, so now I just want to stop getting alerts to update my payment method since they won’t accept my payment method anyway.

I don’t know who you are, but your information is incorrect. The charge went through. I did not block it.


Apple is in error and I do not want to be bothered about a payment method because I don’t want to pay for anything through Apple. I should not be subjected to demand for payment method when I have no wish to pay for anything or receive anything from Apple for which payment is expected. This alert is an intrusion to my peace.


If you are not Apple, and cannot fix the problem that was not created by me, then please leave this conversation to someone who can interpret and solve the problem.

Unfortunately, the method Phil0124 suggested and which Apple repeated to me today, is not possible, at least not with a PNC credit card. In my case, a $9.99 charge from Apple showed up on my credit card bill last fall. I didn't recognize the charge and was unable to get Apple on the phone to question it. So I called PNC, the credit card issuer, and disputed the transaction. PNC issued a refund. Now, seven months later, I found out from Apple that this card has been blocked. They said I had to let the transaction go through to unblock it, then could request a refund from Apple. However, after a long conversation with PNC I find out that PNC is unable to mark the original transaction as authorized. In other words, there is no way to get this card unblocked. Given how often Apple transactions for subscriptions like News and Apple TV must be disputed, there are no doubt many other honest Apple customers in this same boat. But Apple does not seem to care.
