How can I optimize Back Tap consistency?
I like the idea of Back Tap, but it's been terribly inconsistent in registering my taps. Are there any strategies to increase its accuracy: tapping location, tapping speed, etc?

I am experiencing the same issue. I have found that I get the best results by tapping really light. I figured this out listening to music and slightly tapping my index finger near the camera. Prior to noticing how effective this was, back tap was very inconsistent and only showed up when I didn’t need it. I’ve only just discovered this so please let me know if you all have any luck. I know one thing, thumping the crap out of it don’t work so maybe our phones just want us to be a little less aggressive.
Yeah I’m not sure they know what they’re talking about. I also have issues with back tap being inconsistent and I’ve used like 30% of my internal storage, even so the iPhone reserves a certain amount for OS to ensure it will not need to slow down if the storage gets full.
For me on my iPhone 14 Pro Max (may be different on other phones, I’m not sure)
I double/triple tap just below and slightly to the right of the camera, slower than I would naturally do, it’s almost like you have to have a rhythm when you tap it but I can get semi-consistent results like this.

Clear Space Using my User Tips:
My iPhone nowhere near its storage capacity, but even if it was, storage capacity rarely impacts performance of computers unless it's at max at which point it is unable to page memory which leads to more catastrophic results, like app and/or OS crashes, not lag. Storage slowing down computers is a common misconception. The most likely cause of lag is slow processing, i.e. the processor, but that's not something I can change. Furthermore, my iPhone doesn't lag with other tasks.

Lagging and Storage:
You're using a Mobile device --not a computer. Mobile devices are not intended for multitasking the way computers are. So, load available storage is an extreme issue when it comes to mobile devices. So, update your iPhone to the latest-compatible iOS version.

Can you explain the relationships between multitasking (lol?), storage utilization, input queue processing, and tie it all back to a root cause? You forgot explain after the app that condescension. I’m super curious why you think a multitasking os would have a harder time processing input, and why iOS is bad at it. Ios has been a MT OS since like 2010 iirc. Enlighten us mr littles. I’ll assume OP didn’t already tell you there’s plenty of storage space.
But no, of course you can’t or you would have. And of course I’d you could you wouldn’t recommend an os update like the T1 support bot you are. No rhyme or reason for anything you recommend. He was right up above, but you only pretend to be an engineer, know. That act doesn’t work if the person you’re talking to has a clue. You’re wannabe. You copy and paste without understanding. These forums are useless because of people like you.
it’s obnoxious reading your huge replies, only to realize you used all that text to say nothing at all. completely vapid. You’re here answering questions because no one will pay you to do more. You don’t know what virtual memory is ffs stop pretending you’re someone who can do more than waste people’s time asking for logs you don’t understand and proposing solutions based on Google rank order. The world needs apple geniuses and geek squad plebs too. Otherwise we’d have to the easy stuff.

A1. Multitasking would mean running many processes at once. So, if items are running, then that can most certainly show things down, quite a bit. So, see what it taking the most out of the CPU. Is it Google Chrome? Or is is something else? To Find Out, use Activity Monitor and view the percent of each app. Save what on the app, and then close it.
Q2. "the T1 support bot you are."
A2. I'm nothing of a bot. And you're not theirs to have asked.
Q3. "it’s obnoxious reading your huge replies, only to realize you used all that text to say nothing at all."
A3. I start my replies simple, and then work my way up from there.
