...missing email was in today’s mail, 10/7/23

That certainly sounds like you are telling us you found the answer, thus the confusion.

I have rcvd no replies other than to ask if prob is resolved. Answer is no.

Getting resolution here requires details which, as your fellow end users, we can only get from you. What Apple device? How do you check your mail? Is "frontier" you mail provider or something else?

You also posted in a little-viewed forums section for asking how to use the forum software. Once you provide the device type, we can ask the moderators to move this to a more active and appropriate forum section.

different email clients

Apple Mail app is mostly a fine email client, but some users prefer to use other apps for their mail. If that were the case for you, then that would be relevant information to know for this issue. (‘Client’ here refers to the client-server model, any interface to interact with content on servers. Examples are: webmail, Outlook, Thunderbird, Spark, Airmail, Canary Mail, etc.)

Unfortunately, I haven’t seen anywhere an option for ‘Important’ in Apple Mail app. I hope someone else is able to identify what you may have seen.

Apple Mail app on Mac will show “!!” after the sender name in the inbox list, when the sender has marked the message as important or high priority. Apple Mail app doesn’t show the word “Important” for it, though.

All I need to know, I think, is when I replied on an email upon reading it, I chose the option “important.” Still don’t know where to find such email. It would have been either jlatte at frontier or alatte at Mac or galatte 2 at gmail. Don’t recall who sent it; I get lots of ‘political’ mail; article was interesting and well done re TX atty general and my mail comes in from all 3, integrated by time, and I read under Inbox. It disappeared after pressing ‘important’. I usually press starred and will find it under there, it I did not this time.
