I keep getting message that my new bank card is invalid when trying to add to my Apple Wallet

My bank sent me a new card since the previous one was about to expire and I can’t add the new card to my wallet even if the card is active and I already did online transactions with different methods I keep getting a message saying invalid card

I just got a new phone and my debit card stopped working with Apple Pay. The card has not changed. I deleted it and tried to reenter it in Wallet and it keeps getting rejected as invalid. The only difference is my phone, therefore this seems like an Apple problem. I did call the bank and they could not see an issue, and confirmed the card is valid and active. So excited to figure out the resolution to the mystery...

If the error is invalid card, Apple is submitting only your name, card number and expiration date, nothing else, to the Payment Network Operator (Visa, MasterCard, American Express etc.) for validation. If the card is validated, other information is sent for verification including iPhone information, CVV security code and some usage data.

The most common reason for a failed validation is the card wasn’t activated or PNO, doesn’t show it as activated. The bank may show it as activated, but PNO doesn’t. Contact your bank’s support team and they can contact the PNO and figure out why the card is invalid.

Apple is not the card issuer and cannot determine if the card is valid or not. This is the first step in the process of verifying the card. If it fails validation, there is no need to go any further.

I am having this same issue. I have a new expiration. I deleted the old card, waited 10 days to try again. I am getting the invalid card message. I have contacted the bank 5 times, each time I get a new representative. They all say the same thing. There is nothing on their end that is causing this issue. I have been able to add this card to every other platform except apple wallet. I have even read through this post and used the words used here by Jeff Donald to have the bank reprovision the card. Again they say there is nothing on their end and they only solution they can offer is maybe get a new card and hope the new card can be entered. But the card works every where else. I'm assuming I'm just venting here as I will get the same response as everyone else that it is the bank and not apple.

It’s an issue with the bank that issued the card. An invalid card may be a card that has not been activated with the bank or the Payment Network Operator (Visa, Mastercard etc.).

If you entered any of the information incorrectly or different from what the issuing bank has on file. You can bypass this step by using the bank’s mobile app or website to add the card. Errors or incorrect information will result in card being rejected.

Lastly, the bank’s servers are not responding or slow to respond. This sometimes happens on weekends and early mornings when server maintenance is performed.

Hi, I’m sorry to hear of the challenges you’re facing. A new card updates your account and may be the answer. The fact your physical card works is irrelevant. Apple is submitting the data you enter to your bank and the Payment Network Operator (Visa, Mastercard etc.). Either your bank (or a third party services provider they contract with) or the PNO is sending back the message Apple receives. If the message says invalid, that’s what Apple was told and shares with you.

Ask your bank to remove their token, if any, from your Wallet and then issue a new card. Activate the card, wait a day or two for systems to update and try adding again.

To totally separate functions. Apple Wallet is utilized by Apple Pay, which is a payment service between your card in the wallet, through the merchant to the payment network (Visa, Mastercard etc.) and finally to your bank. Apple’s service protects your personal and financial information from hackers and scammers.

Apple Account is Apple the merchant storing your payment information for exclusive use on Apple.com/store and iTunes, App Store, and the myriad of products and services Apple offers.

Oh that makes sense. Its on apple account just not verified on apple wallet. Im worried it wont take my subscription on icloud + that comes out tomorrow because its not verified yet on apple pay. I do have money on the apple account though from gift cards. Sometimes I add money to it from my card to the account BUT I prob wont be able to add money to the account until I get apple pay verified I would think. Hence why I have to go in to the bank to have them verify it

I keep getting message that my new bank card is invalid when trying to add to my Apple Wallet
