I have an iMac. I go to a website and then am asked to get a code at another website. how do I switch between website without losing them

This is the iMac (PPC) forum for PowerPC iMacs. Modern browsers and secure web sites are not compatible with these older computer models, so I have to assume that you are using a newer iMac
Often, you can open another tab in the web browser. May depend on the browser used and its settings. If necessary, try another browser (Safari, Firefox, et cetera).

Like Jan, I must temper my response due to this section being for pre-2006 iMacs. There is virtually no browser support for those models any more.

Move cursor on another website link, then right click of mouse to select open another site with new Tab could work.
