Dock switching between screens

I'm infuriated by the fact that there is no option to lock dock on one screen. Only workarounds are either un-checking the "use displays as separate spaces" box or positioning the dock to either left/right side of the display. Both garbage workarounds, I mean why can't there be just a simple button to lock the dock to a single display without resorting to either of the workarounds? It's so infuriating when you accidentally put the cursor on the bottom of one screen and the dock switches places. Please fix it, it's been years.
