my time machine wont wor

it wont recognise its own disc and I can't get it to update the Time Machine

last time I lost everything on the computer because it said the Time Machine was working when it wasnt

give me a proper answer

not one where I get locked out of my own computer again

Time machine - used the wrong hd Good afternoon I formatted the wrong desk and set it up for use for the time machine which is of course not my intension. I'd like to use the disk for other things but I can't figure out how to allow for other items to be put on that disk now... Help?

Time machine will not back p My USB drive ve stopped working, I bought a new drive format it for Time Machine and every time I do, it says time machine needs to start backup manually, and then says no disc found, event though I can see the drive on finder and on time machine setup. I have tried formatting several times and with 3 different drives, I can copy to the drive, but the backup keeps saying drive not available?

What has changed recently?

software update, hardware update, new peripherals?

what is the exact status you see in time machine control panel when it refuses to work for you?

what size is your boot drive?

what size is your time machine backup drive? what kind of drive is it?
