Apple Cash issue

Someone wanted to buy some items I posted on Nextdoor

they wanted to pay with Apple Cash.

amount was $100

they said they sent it. I got a text from eh at appears to be Apple support saying that it reached my account limit and in order to upgrade my account the sender has to send me $400 more.

I didn’t want to do that bc it seemed fishy but the person buying the items insisted on it.

so they sent the additional $400.

they now wanted me to refund them the $400 via Zelle while on the phone with them to get Apple Cash

I hadn’t receive any fund in my Apple Cash account so I refuse and told them it seems like a scam and to request the cancellation of the transaction as I had not accepted or received the funds.

i then get a text from “Apple” stating her name was Ashley and that “this was a real company we are legitimate “

I told I sensed it was fraud and to reimburse the person.

i have gotten a call back from the person or text from Apple after I told I sensed fraud.

just wanted to see if anyone has seen any such issues.

It was absolutely fraud. You were talking to the scammers the entire time. None of the communications, texts or phone calls were from Apple. Apple will not contact you about a transaction.

The first red flag was using Apple Cash for a commercial transaction. The terms and conditions do not permit the use of Apple Cash for the purchase of goods or services through a Person To Person (P2P) transfer of Apple Cash. P2P transfers are for personal use between family, friends and acquaintances of the sender. P2P transfer do not have fraud protection.
