Screen time bug after updating to iOS 18.

As soon as I updated to iOS 18, my screen time notifications and limits started going crazy. When I checked in to the settings, it showed that my screen time was 13 hours (this would not have been possible as I was not on my phone for more than 1 hour that day). I scrolled back a few days and my screen time had also skyrocketed - anywhere from 10 hours a day to 21 hours a day. My screen time is usually no more than 3 1/2 hours a day, so this is weird.

This morning, I checked my screen time and it said I had 7 hours of screen time, even though my phone was powered off through the whole night.

(EDIT: I just want to add the things I’ve already tried to do)

Turn off and on the screen time settings
Power phone off and on
Force reset phone

How do I fix this?

same story on my 15 PM. i power off every night since it’s just a habit of mine, every day i wake up and allegedly i spend 12hrs overnight on nothing. 😂 hopefully they’ll sort it out with the next ios update.

You might have other issues going on. There are multiple threads about this but none going back 4 months. Maybe start your own thread with specifics about your device. I just called about a week ago on it and thought it was related to iOS 18.1.1, not a long standing issue.

not very easy for me to ignore that when I need to turn my phone off when I go to church and then when I turn it back on, it says I used Settings for “ x number of hours” because that may have been the Last “app” I used. I can’t even turn my phone off at night when I want to because of this bug. i’ve taken to turning on airplane mode and then shutting the screen off overnight.

iOS 18 is a nightmare. My battery last only 30% of what it is used to be. The screentime doesn't work since the update. It is filled with bugs and it has been months since the release. Apple what is wrong?

Background app refresh is a push and pull service. When you disable background refresh, you just disable the app from pulling data. The data can still be pushed to the app from the developers servers. Delete the app for 72 hours and watch all the numbers change.

different problem but I forgot my screentime password when I enter my apple id and password it doesn't say incorrect password no nothing it just disables it for a hour please fix it next update

My issue seems to have resolved EITHER with the 18.1.1 iOS update (on 12mini), OR with the 18.1.1 Safari for Mac update (operating on Sonoma 14.7.1), OR with both.

When I contacted Apple Support about this issue, I was told it’s a known bug and the fix will be in an upcoming update. Just ignore what you see in Screen time for a short while.

It’s not fixed anymore. I have woken up with 30+ hours of screen time several times.
