Apple Watch battery draining fast after watchOS 11 Update

Finding very heavy battery drain with this update. From 9am to 10am lost 10% battery. Usually at 7pm I would have 65-70% battery left. Sitting at 50% right now.

After an OS update, it's common to experience an increased battery drain as certain tasks related to the update continue in the background including indexing, you should only experience this increased battery drain for a few days before it goes back to normal.

If after a couple days, your battery is not back to normal, I would recommend unpair and repairing your Apple Watch with your iPhone ⇢ Unpair and erase your Apple Watch - Apple Support

Since the official Apple Support does not follow these user to user communities, using the Feedback link is the only way to make them aware of issues. Everybody having these issues should do that:

After the first watchOS 11 upgrade, switching off the Smart Stack and Live Activities on my Ultra 2 helped, as well as repairing the watch and setting it up as a new device.

Jad, we have exactly the same situation. My wife's S5 stopped updating after version 10.nn and even though its battery health is in the low 80's it lasts all day and evening every day. My S6 has gotten better since 11.1 and 11.2 The only thing I do differently from others here with 11.2 is that I do not have Passcode turned on (makes the watch way less annoying, too!) I have optimized charging turned on (only charges to 80% overnight to preserve battery life...my battery health is 93%). I also have handwashing, mindfulness, all the music and podcast settings off, and I don't use Apple Pay. From 7 or 8 am to 11 or so pm, my watch goes from 80% down to 35-40%.

I really want my wife to upgrade to a new watch from her S5, but she says not until the battery problem is solved.

Nothing I tired worked. Shutdown and restarted both phone and watch many times, since unpairing and reinstalling software on the watch. Only thing that helped reduce the drain was shutting off live activities. I never had the always on display on, also have reduce motion on. Other than that, I have to charge twice a day or I’ll run out of battery during the night or in the middle of the day.

Wife S5; me S6 (wife got me one because she liked hers...ordinarily, I have the older version of any tech in the house.) Anyway, the S5 won't update beyond iOS 10.nn, and she has no problem with it running down rapidly. My S6 suffered the 11.0 and 11.01 rapid battery drain. It seems to be doing better a couple days after 11.1 was installed. I shut down and restarted a couple times. I leave it on a charger overnight, and it charges to 80%, as that's the new system, I'm told, to maximize battery life. Yesterday, it was still at 44% at 11pm, so it's doing much better. Fingers crossed.

Same problem here. It’s not to do with age of the watch though as mine is series 9 and was perfect before this update. Now I put it on the charger and it’s draining as fast as it’s charging! The charge percentage sometimes goes down when the watch is on the charger. I found if I turned the watch and the phone off and on again it seems to resolve for the day… but happens again the next day. Very odd!

I had the same problem.

after 2-3 days the battery drain is now back to normal though.

the only thing I did I activated “low power mode“ once over night. The next day I fully charged my watch and went back to normal power mode. Since then the battery is working better. Don’t know if it was just the time that went by (2-3 days) or the low power mode. You could try this.
