Finding very heavy battery drain with this update. From 9am to 10am lost 10% battery. Usually at 7pm I would have 65-70% battery left. Sitting at 50% right now.

Terrible battery drain after updating watchOS 11 on apple watch series 7. The apple watch goes from 100% to 84% in less than 1 hours. In 8 hours, the apple watch is running out of charge. Worst of all, this is using it as normal watch, not playing music, not tracking any sports or activity from workout app, just putting in my wrist to use it as a normal watch.
Doing sport is completely draining the watch's battery. What is going on? What can be done to reduce the drainage?
Installed watchOS 11.1 on my series 8 watch. Since installing the update, my watch battery dies after 4 hours. Battery health is 89% so it isn't the battery.
For my series 8 the answer was to uninstall all the companion apps from my phone that were on the watch (that I don’t use). Now I get almost two days again.
ok,so i should upgrade from perfetcly working ultra 1st gen(before update) because of ios 11???? no way
Bought new Apple Watch few months ago battery was amazing lasted day and half now last 5 hrs or less pretty upset about it
Apple for f.ck sake this is realy not ok,it been already 3weeks from update and my watch is useless!!! i paid 1200euros for a watch and now i have sot of 3hrs! update update 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
Same! My ultra 2 watch used to last for 2 days (48 hours) on one charge with workouts and all. Now it’s lasting less than 24 hours without working out.

There's a new 11.2 firmware out. I wonder if it fixes anything. My AW7 are almost useless after the 11.1 update.
Not sure about battery drain, but charging my 7 has certainly become a problem since IOS 11.1
I followed these instructions and found no change at all to the battery drain.
Same here… Apple claims that apple watch ultra can last for almost two days.. mine lasts for a day after IOS11 !! I’m thinking to switch to garmin now…

if this is true, it sure seems like apple would include a notification* with the update.

This actually sounded quite promising, but did absolutely nothing in my case. Or I didn't completely understand the idea.
I also measured how battery is behaving one morning. From 8 am to 10:30 am I lost 10%, and just like you I was simply sitting at my desk - this is ridiculous
