Apple Music issues after iOS 18 Update

Has anyone experienced issues with Apple Music in iOS 18? For example, audio quality lowered despite Dolby Atmos and EQ off? Or trying to scroll through your playlist and the app crashes?

Me. So thankful to find someone else with this issue. My Apple Music has been almost unusable since the upgrade to iOS 18. Crashes when scrolling a playlist, crashes when trying to remove songs from a playlist. Won’t let me edit larger playlist. Also freezes a lot, is super slow, and the audio quality has decreased. I have been on basically a 4 day phone call with a Apple Senior Adviser about this and they can’t figure it out, plus they say nobody else besides me has reported to them issues with Apple Music on iOS 18. Which is hard for me to believe. The tech is calling me back tomorrow with what his bosses said about the screen recordings i sent them showing my issues. I’ve done every troubleshooting step they can think of except reinstalling iOS 18. I hope they can figure it out cause it’s annoying me to no end not being able to use my music.

I cancelled my iTunes match subscription which I've had for years. I have tried everything, including syncing manually and even with a manual sync, things are just as bad. It's amazing at how bad this is. I realize my issue is not the same as yours, but I've addressed previously how Apple's bugs affect different users in different ways.

I cancelled iTunes match, because it serves no purpose now with how corrupt iTunes is.

I have been having exactly the same problem since the update to IOS 18. I have a very large (main) playlist and editing this playlist, adding music to it or playing music from it causes the app to crash all the time. It also warms up my phone significantly and drains the battery exceptionally fast… I have been hoping for improvements with each IOS update, but I get the feeling Apple doesn’t have it on their radar at all! Sincerely hope this gets fixed urgently!

Navigating through your music is way more slow and laggy. One thing that also really annoys me - since the update, if you select a song to play next, you can't move it into a group of songs that is already playing. I would just let playlists or all my songs play on random, then think of a song I wanted to hear, then see a song coming up I wanted to hear it next to and move it there. Now you can't do that - if I select "Play next," I can add other songs to also play next, but I can't move them into the set of songs that are already playing, and I can't move anything up from the songs that are coming up to be next to the songs I want to play next. A small thing but really annoying - why take away functionality that was nice to have?

Have you updated to iOS 18.2? It was just released.

Mine started having issues immediately after installing 18.2, sound quality issues and whenever trying to change songs or playlists, it just restarted at the first song from the playlist I was trying to get out of. Nothing I did seemed to resolve the issue. Next day 18.2.1 was available for download and it appears to have fixed the issue.

I upgraded to 18.2.1 on an iPhone 16 Pro. What a huge mistake that I have been regretting every single day.

Songs that I've purchased take anywhere from 12 seconds to 30 seconds to start playing on long playlists (150 or more songs), which makes switching songs a pain as nothing will happen when the song is selected and then the song will start playing half a minute later. In addition, Star Ratings are not saved the first time I rate songs and I usually have to re-enter the ratings 3-4 times before they're saved. Both issues are incredibly annoying.

All my problems are in my phone Music app, my laptop Music app seems the same.

My problem started 5 days ago, Feb 10, 2025. iPhone automatic update on Monday to iOS 18.1 and the next day was unable to add a new album. Did a Sync in Finder window and went from 74,647 songs down to 10, one single album. I was on Sonoma still on laptop and tried multiple things to recover using different Sync options and then got to 1870 songs on the phone. Playlists seem to have been completely corrupted and when I deleted a newly detected playlist simply called Playlist, it deleted a different playlist with over 15,000 songs in it. That’s gone forever, thanks Apple. In discussion with Apple tech for two days, we tried another Sync method which got me to 60,000+ songs, most of which were greyed out on the phone app. I upgraded laptop to Sequoia last night and ran a Stnc again, now I have 67,000+ songs but behavior in the Play Banner still flashes through a dozen songs before stopping on desired song, but seems to be working. I had so many issues I can’t remember or list them all such as half of an album being out of Country or Region, so I’ll be exploring for more of those issues in the next couple days.

At this point, I think there has to be an alternative app to use to manage my own music and would love any ideas on that..!!!!!!!!!

Audio sync problem with multiple HomePod … - Apple Community

Hello, I'm having a trouble with playing songs in my Apple Music with multiples HomePods around my house. After the second music the HomePods are losing the sync and are not syncing again. To resync I have to pause and play again every single time. It start after iOS 18.1 and was not solved with iOS 18.2. I have 2 HomePods first generation in stereo pair, one HomePod first generation, 2 HomePods mini in stereo pair, and 2 HomePods mini in a single setup. I had reset all the HomePods after HomeOS 18.2, I turn off lossless and also Dolby Atmos, also I tried to turn off the audio check settings in the home app and also Apple Music app turn off all the HomePods and my iPhone and turn it again on, I fixed the IPs of all my HomePods. But none of this solved my problem.

I checked the airplay multiroom with Spotify and I have no problem with this That is the reason I think is something with Apple Music app turn off

The problem happen also if the streaming is started from the HomePods, But affect just the multiroom AirPlay using more than one HomePods
