Apple Music issues after iOS 18 Update

Has anyone experienced issues with Apple Music in iOS 18? For example, audio quality lowered despite Dolby Atmos and EQ off? Or trying to scroll through your playlist and the app crashes?

Me. So thankful to find someone else with this issue. My Apple Music has been almost unusable since the upgrade to iOS 18. Crashes when scrolling a playlist, crashes when trying to remove songs from a playlist. Won’t let me edit larger playlist. Also freezes a lot, is super slow, and the audio quality has decreased. I have been on basically a 4 day phone call with a Apple Senior Adviser about this and they can’t figure it out, plus they say nobody else besides me has reported to them issues with Apple Music on iOS 18. Which is hard for me to believe. The tech is calling me back tomorrow with what his bosses said about the screen recordings i sent them showing my issues. I’ve done every troubleshooting step they can think of except reinstalling iOS 18. I hope they can figure it out cause it’s annoying me to no end not being able to use my music.

I contacted Apple support, and they advised me to reset all settings, which I did. Unfortunately, the issue still persists as you described. We're definitely losing our subscription money due to a problem we've never encountered before. I hope they release an update to fix this soon. I encourage everyone to reach out to Apple support and report any issues as they arise; this will help prioritize their fixing efforts.

Hahaha your last sentence describes my mental state when dealing with this incredible song download and playlist adds lag perfectly! I spoke with tech support on Sat (09/28) and they said they aren't aware of any Music app issues since ios18 and I was like, "Check out this thread I have been commenting on and following then; it's a huge problem!"

Yes, the apple music app has been extremely slow and laggy since updating to ios 18, today’s 18.0.1 update still did not fix the issue. I have been using the Jet Music Player (I purchased it to use fyi) instead and it seems to work without any lagging or freezing like the music app player. Hope apple can patch or fix this in the 18.1 update.

Another issue I've noticed is it sometimes forgets a song has been played and reverts Play Count to a previous value. I have a fair few audio books so in order to remember which chapter I'm up to I have a smart list showing tracks played less than X number of plays. A few times recently I've gone into the playlist and a few earlier chapters are appearing. In fact in the last few minutes I went into the playlist intending to set it playing when the current song by Peggy Lee finished and it was the correct chapter showing. Before the song currently playing finished Music crashed and when I opened it back up two earlier chapters were showing as the next to play from my audio book.

This happened to me twice with one song immediately after the update. It cut off exactly 1:13 at the end of the cut. The third time I played it directly (not in a playlist sequence) and it played through. This problem has not recurred for me. My primary complaint is how clunky the response is when I try to add a cut to a playlist, rendering that feature extremely annoying and verging on unusable. The other discouraging thing is - judging from this board - how long it took Apple to acknowledge that there is even a problem.

Another issue I've identified is that when I turned on my laptop it causes my iPhone to crash when playing music. This happened every time so yesterday I turned off Bluetooth on my laptop and now when I boot it up the phone no longer crashes (tried a few times). I think I'll try turning it back on and see what happens (will my phone start crashing again?), and then try telling my laptop to forget my phone, see what happens then (will it stop crashing?)
