I have an iPhone 16, I am noticing that the phone is getting quite hot to the touch while using the phone. Texting, camera or just checking emails. Last night when I was charging it for the first time, it had been sitting in the charger for a while and when I went ti touch it. It was hot

I’ve had mine since the 20th. Same issues. No background tasks on. I spoke with Apple yesterday and they won’t admit others are having issues but told me to return the phone or swap it for a new one. It can’t be we are all having this problem coincidentally. I’m wondering if it’s the new update too or just this phone

16 ProMax Overheating. During **** near anything and everything. Text for a few minutes? Lose 20% battery power. Take a picture and edit it? every time you do it'll drop the battery by 10%. FaceTime for an hour? Battery goes from 100% to 46%. I did notice that photos was also going like 90% in the background all. the. time. Phone is hotter than **** and won't charge because its temperature is too high and needs to cool down. Also frequent errors during charging that the phone can't continue to charge until the temperature lowers. I have contacted Apple, submitted diagnostics, worked with engineers, so far the only solution is every time the phone heats up to do a reset it. This means I'm resetting the phone multiple times in most hours of the day, and several times while charging to get it to 100%. If the phone is doing that much background indexing, I really FEAR what the inclusion of AI is going to do to this thing. Apple says the phone isn't the issue, and if they're right, I'm not convinced but if they are it seems like this 18 a stinker of an iOS...

Hi, i have the same issue. Today in carplay after 30 min, phone was very hot, yesterday during watching ip cameras too and after 10 minutes in youtube i feel on fingers how it starts to be hot. I worry about degrading of battery due to high temperature. I switched from iphone 15 pro and no such issue with the same ussage. Some frustrating issue…

So why does this not happen on older models?

Every year for the last few years, people get their new iPhone and immediately say it's overheating while using the camera, watching video, playing games, charging. And that is common with new phones. VERY COMMON. They are indexing millions of bytes of data, at the same time people are using battery intensive activities. If you are NOT seeing a thermometer or a warning on the screen the phone needs to cool down your phone is NOT overheating.

The back of my iPhone 16 Pro becomes extremely hot to touch when i charge it on my new Belkin BoostCharge Pro Convertible Magnetic Wireless Charging Stand with Qi2 15W. Specifically where the magsafe charger is attached in the centre of the phone.

I have tested with the magsafe case on and off. Both tests result in an overheated phone. Very concerning.

”Background processes” or “indexing” is fair to say the first few days. Once we get to a couple weeks and the phone is just as hot as a zippo electric hand warmer then it starts to create concerns from me.

Walking to lunch yesterday I had to just turn my phone off I thought it might get damaged. Could feel my leg getting hot with it in my pocket. (Took me back to the exploding Samsung battery thought)

Today driving to work I streamed a twitter x space at the same time. I picked it up and decided it’s time to take it back.

My 14 pro never felt like this to be honest. Ya a few times it got hot and the screen dimmed or it was left in the car and had a “too hot” gauge on the screen… but I’ll say this is the first phone I’ve had like this. 😢
