My iPhone 16 Pro Max overheats while using the Camera app

That's not normal, and neither my phone nor any demo at the Apple Store behaves in that manner.

I just shot two three minute videos back-to-back and the phone did not even become noticeably warm.

I've never seen that on any other 16 Pro Max, and the 16 Pro Max demo units in the store are charging all day and are not even warm to the touch.

Likewise I use the camera for stills and video constantly and have no issues, nor do the demo models in stores.

It may be warmer than you are used to but it is not overheating unless it shuts itself off.

Unless your phone displayed a thermometer icon and shut down, it did not overheat.

It's normal for the phone to get warm to hot under some circumstances, and what you describe sounds more like you have an app installed that is not playing well with iOS 18.

Check under Settings -> Battery for an application using a lot of battery.

I haven't seen that on my phone, any demo phone and haven't heard of it among the hundreds of users I hear from regularly.

As soon as I want to record 4K 120fps videos, the camera app crashes and the device gets hot and stutters a little.

please keep us updated! Curious if i need to make an app too!!

Same issue, other apps no problems at all. But the moment I take 2-3 pictures the phone gets very warm.

What did they do for you

new models usually overheat whenever they are activated for 1-2 weeks . It is always expected as the softwares are running in the background and data is being transferred

I am also facing the same problem, my iPhone 16 Pro Max not only heats up but restarted twice after 2 short video clips and few protrait shots taken using 5x camera. Please, fix ASAP. 18.0.1

I noticed this morning, when I try to capture photos, the camera blacks out or the camera just shuts down and it goes back to the home screen!

In addition to becoming very hot while at rest, the camera is essentially unusable. Once I open the camera app and hit the button to take a photo the screen goes black and the camera app quits.
