After updating my iPhone 14 Pro to iOS 18 I noticed that when I ask Siri simple questions like, "what's the forecast" or "temperature outside", Siri will only show the answer on the screen and does not verbally tell me the answer like before. I have restarted my phone several times and checked the settings. Setttings are all ok.

This update has been terrible for Siri. For me, Siri doesn't hear me even if I'm shouting. And the notifications now are extremely vague. Instead of reading the messages it just says "mail sent a message" or "voice sent a long message" . Siri is hard of hearing and lame compared to how well it used to work.
Same with turn on noise cancellation. This issue only occurs when phone is locked when you evoke Siri. If phone is unlocked Siri behaves as it should.
ios18.1. 16Pro. Siri will occasionally light up when hearing her name, but will not perform the operation, and there is no vocal response. This with the setting to prefer voice responses on. Even tried changing the spoken response language and turning on/off sound recognition.
odd thing is, my wife’s regular 16 works just fine, adding to the mystery. I hope 18.2 addresses this

Sound recognition was off but I turned it on and off again. That fixed it. Thanks
