Open Wallet app using Control Centre on iOS 18 is unpredictable.

I use Control Centre on my iPhone 15 Pro Max to open the Wallet app, and the app usually opens on its main page with "Wallet" shown on the top left and all my credit cards and store cards below.

Since upgrading to iOS 18, this behaviour has become unpredictable.

Sometimes the app opens as above, and sometimes the behaviour is identical to the double-click action (or selecting "Default Card" from the control's context menu.

I am not sure how it decides which action to take, if this is a new feature, or if this is a bug in iOS 18.

Which iOS 18 version are you on? I’m very familiar with Wallet in the Control Center. The curious situation is the icon to add the app is not even in the options to add to Control Center on my 15 Pro Max.

I did find it on an old iPhone XR on iOS 18.0. On the old iPhone it opens the Wallet app as expected.

You are aware that double clicking the side button activates Apple Pay and FaceID. Tapping the Wallet icon in Control Center opens the Wallet app. Those are two different functions and they shouldn’t behave the same.

I am using iOS 18.0 (22A3354).

If I open Control Centre, hold to edit, then "Add a Control"...

The Wallet has its own section near the bottom with two controls, "Wallet" and "Tap to Cash", as shown here:

My problem is that the wallet control sometimes behaves the same as double clicking the side button, which is strange and never happened before upgrading to 18.0.
