This is the worst update ever. My pictures are a hot mess. Please give us the option to go back to the old format!!!! I am so upset right now. Who does your research before hurting the masses?

I was able to figure it out for me. I wanted my favorites and videos albums easily accessible. They are under “pinned collections” for some reason at the bottom where it gives you the options to customize and reorder. You can also add specific shared albums or whatnot. Not intuitive at all but was able to make it work in the end.

No, you see, that is exactly what didn't work. If I searched for albums only half of mine with a specific name showed up. Of course my panic was huge. After two days everything was back and sorted and album search yielded the correct result. But those two days; of course I assumed my albums were gone. Why did no one inform about the fact that it might take several days for you to have your photos and albums back after a software update??? Days in which my work was standing still.

Hi Apple Community, in response to Photo Albums disappearing in iOS 18, I found this useful video that guides you to making Photos like they were in iOS 17. It also makes suggestions for new features to enhance the experience. The best part is it’s fully customizable.

I good this helps and eases frustrations…as I was one that experienced the same issue but was on a mission to find a solution.

My albums were created three iPhones ago (about 8-10 years) by syncing my phone to iTunes through my computer. They were stored on the hard drive of my computer in carefully curated folders. The computer died, and I no longer had access to them. This didn’t bother me because I could transfer data from iPhone to iPhone and the photos migrated in the transfer. With this update, all those photos are gone. Who can I contact, and how can I get them back? All my family memories (weddings, funerals, celebrations, etc.) were there.

What a mess. My 4000 photos went to the deleted folder. I only discovered it by accident after panicking

and I restored the photos. The numbers of hours and over the past years to sort these pics into albums and now all a mess. I’m beyond angry. I’m about ready to leave the Apple ecosystem (monopoly). You’ve made a mess of iPhoto’s over the years and let’s not forget Apple Music mess.

Did you read any of the previous posts in this forum that explained Apple doesn't read here for feedback or suggestions? No, I didn't think so.

Hyerdon ~ Apple isn't in these user-to-user communities looking at thousands of daily posts for "supporting traction". Instead, Apple will "read all feedback carefully" here:
