Adding eTickets to my Wallet takes me to Apple Pay

I recently bought two tickets for a concert. Received the cutomary email with a link to the concert venue site where I could access my eTickets and download them unto my iPhone wallet. But when I click on the Add to your Wallet button, instead of putting the tickets in my wallet, it automatically transfers me to the Apple Pay site, asking me if I want to add a new card. I already have a credit card in my wallet, which I've used frequently to pay purchases with Apple Pay. I've called the ticket office of the venue and explained the problem to them but they told me that it was an issue that I should resolve with Apple. Any clue or idea how to solve this?

This security measures/obsolete hardware thing is really an obsession @ Apple. My old iPhone still works well, I can still upgrade it to newer iOS versions, so why would I buy a new model?! The evening of the event, I'll just access the venue's website, with my phone, and present my tickets from there.
