Says I have the wrong phone number when adding debit card

What do I do when it says u tried too many times to add a phone number and I just need a verification code so I can use Apple Pay. It says I have the wrong phone number!!!

Because Apple is not a bank. Apple has no access to your bank information to verify your identity. Any verification request comes directly from the bank that issued the card. Your bank has the wrong phone number, not Apple. There is nothing Apple can do to remedy the situation.


If you get the >tried too many times< error message, you’ve triggered additional fraud algorithms banks and Apple have in place to protect you from fraud. You’re probably locked out for 30 days.
