I accidentally shut down my macbook while performing an icloud backup, all the folders are on the cloud but I lost most of my files. Is there any way to recover them?

Macs do not backup messages up into iCloud. If you were syncing your files and shutdown, there would be no issue. Syncing resumes again when you turn on the Mac. If you have lost your files, you’ll want to restore from your Time Machine (or similar) backup.
You files might be in /Users/yourname/Library/Mobile Documents/com-appie~CloudDocs
