Tried to pay with apple pay at a doctors office

I get acupuncture treatments at Dr Kelly's Oriental Acupuncture & she said she accepts apple pay so I went to my wallet on my IPHONE & tried to send her a payment & a message came up stating that this was a scam & do not proceed. She has been in practice for many years, so I know she is reputable. I have never used apple pay before, so I don't know if I did something wrong or what. It was only for $100.00 so I'm glad I actually had some cash on hand to pay her for the session.

Contact list in Apple Contacts app or another app? If it’s Apple Contacts app it’s potentially not in compliance with Apple Cash Terms & Conditions. It is not permitted to use Person-To-Person (P2P) Apple Cash payments for business or commercial purposes/transactions.

Apple Pay is like Tap-To-Pay and goes through a transaction terminal. What exactly were you trying to do? Were you trying to Message the Dr Apple Cash?

No, she’s on my contact list & under her name I clicked on the $ sign to pay her & put in the amount & than the message popped up stating that this was a scam & do not send.
