Vanilla visa gift card

For those of you who have already replied to this post, try to not make the person asking the question feel like an idiot for asking it. According to Vanilla Visa and many other reliable websites the card SHOULD be able to be added to the apple wallet or Apple Pay. I’m having the same issue with my gift card. It says that it’s compatible and able to be added to my apple wallet but it will NOT accept it. Don’t go all sarcastically saying that it’s the issuing bank or that it’s not accepted PERIOD. Based on online information the card is supposed to be able to be added.

So, if you can offer information that actually helps, mention it. If you’re just going to belittle people asking this question just keep your snarky comments to yourself. PERIOD.

In addition to Jeff Donald's excellent reply, please allow me to emphasize that Apple does not approve or disapprove cards to be included to be used with Apple Pay or Apple wallet. They simply try to provide an updated list according to the information they have received from the various banks. That is the reason why people keep telling posters to check with the bank issuer. The bank is rejecting the card. Not Apple. There really is nothing Apple can do if the card is being rejected.

Vanilla Visa Card is a prepaid debit card, different from a demand deposit account debit card and ATM card. Vanilla Visa is a trademark of Visa and licensed to multiple banks, savings & loans and credit unions. Typically, prepaid debit are restricted by the bank and or merchant.

Apple maintains a list of banks that claim to support Apple Pay. Individual banks may not support the use of a prepaid debit card with Apple Pay. Apple has no control over the content that banks publish or share in regard to accepting specific cards.

Your best resource with be the issuing banks support team. A website or printed material/advertising may not be current on the use of specific services. The issuing bank can drop support at any time.

The issuing banks name and contact information are usually printed on the back of their card. When contacting the support team inquire about registering the card on their site. Many banks, as part of the card provisioning process may require additional information about the cardholder.
