In the U.S. Apple had to get regulatory approval from the FDA (Federal Drug Administration). In the U.K. the MHRA will likely have to approve it as well before Apple can release it.

Fair enough. Still have a hearing aid solution whether is poor or not. Not blaming apple. I’m blaming UK BS.
Where do you see that? I've not seen any official communication that backs up what you say. Here is the official word from Apple:
AirPods Pro 2 - Hearing Health Feature Availability - Apple

Despite vast portions of their revenues coming from Europe and Asia, Apple can still slip into communications that really only address the USA. The list on the Apple link cited in this discussion is definitive and the UK is not cited for any of the Hearing Features.
I also am very keen to try it and bought AirPods Pros in anticipation. In the UK 'hearing aids' are classed as level IIA medical device and are regulated by the MHRA, though it seems to me the availability, price point and sophistication of the OTC devices from Apple, Bose and several others has leapfrogged what is available on the NHS or expensive private providers and they will not be able to resist this wave (as in the U.S.)
Quite good article here< https://www.ignitec.com/insights/hearing-aids-as-medical-devices-and-their-new-declassification-opportunities/>
I also would like to know! It’s very frustrating that this is not in the roll out. When doing the update it states that the hearing test is included.

here’s an update:
I’ve arrived in Japan and I have the hearing aid test available! I don’t know if it’s because I’m in Japan or if it’s now available in the UK?
Understand. Hopefully it should be a formality as Samsung has the feature on their phones and buds!
@Kurin Samsung are a poor attempt at least Apple do things properly even if it takes time
Right. I missed that.
I have my region set to US for the AI to activate, so why doesn’t the hearing test work also!
