Watch sensor burn circle scar

Apple Watch Ultra 2 (from 2023)

Didn't wear because wasn't sure what was going on with the arm but (I know this sounds whacked) but in my mind just didn't piece together that the watch could be responsible, that my top of the line Apple device could have been the thing that hurt me. They really did do magic with the product - I was so happy to have gotten one

Bought the titanium for best chance of no allergic reaction - with AppleCare about a thousand dollars (plus interest but wanted to have for health reasons) .

When I finally snapped out of it was after one day of wearing in late October(after only having put it on approximately a dozen times total prior in retrospect each resulting in burns) and bam burned the heck out of the same circle. Not wearing it too tightly, not dirty, no skin products, no sweat, didn't even feel it burning, not an allergy, not a fungal infection, more like a burn circle scar, piled up from repeated exposure, in the size and shape of the circle of sensors on the bottom of the watch.

Pictures are watch sensors (looks like there are only 4 but if you look closer? it's a ring of them - same size as the burn), burn circle scar Nov 12 2024. I have hairy arms so trimmed the hair back around the area to see clearly

Tricked into wearing the mark of the beast? J/k, but am rethinking all EMF exposures. Hoping Apple's going to do the right thing, at least for the watch, and that hopefully the scar will go away and won't end up precancerous or cause any other issues.

Since you’ve noticed an increased sensitivities you might want to talk to a dermatologist or allergist. It could be something as common as a nickel allergy, which you noted too. Nickel is used in the hardening process of sapphire crystal.

Here is one article that mentions it,

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sapphire

But references to the process are contained in numerous papers on the subject.

I hope all goes well for you and you’ll let us know the outcome.

It’s happened often enough the multiple physicians have posted videos on YouTube about it. Here’s a short 30 second one.

Please make an appointment with your primary care physician and get a diagnosis of your condition. Your Dr. may refer you to an allergist or dermatologist to confirm the diagnosis.

Probably the most common reason is an allergic reaction to nickel. Nickel is used in the hardening process of stainless steel, aluminum and sapphire crystal.

>>In fact, it is estimated that more than 18 percent of people in North America are allergic to nickel, including 11 million children in the U.S.<<

A visit to an allergist or dermatologist will get it cleared up. They may recommend you reduce contact, use a cover etc. Please let us know what the diagnosis is. 😀

Thanks much.

I appreciate you! The guy in scrubs is annoying and his shtick has nothing to do with what happened to my arm.

Titanium Ultra 2,loose non-flat silicone strap, No sweating. No heat. No skin products (to avoid allergies - the chemicals and nerve/mustard gas in gulf war gave me a lot of sensitivties ).

The well-defined edges burn circle scar is not near the straps but under the glass covered circle of sensors, and in the exact shape and size of the circle of sensors. can't remember where I hear it but maybe the sensors on the ultra are a little stronger than on some watches?

If what you're saying about nickel used in the curing of the transparent crystal on the bac is accurate ? (not saying it's not just have to confirm with Apple)then that could be the culprit - if it irritated the skin to where the circle of sensors could burn a layer of skin? That would explain it.

Will ask a dermatologist for a nickel test. Thanks again.

Never wearing any 'smart watch" again, regardless. Can check all the health functions the old fashioned way and use my phone if I need help for a health prob

Thanks Tim, I know it's from the circle of sensors, the burn was that shape, size, position.

Meant done with EMF's as part of questioning the level of trust most of us are operating iin.

Not on board with the narrative about EMF's being no big deal, and won't be, but I appreciate your thought

If it's a nickel allergy that made the skin vulnerable so the sensors could burn the skin? That seems logical
