Why is the Date app missing from my Apple Watch?

I have a series 9 watch with the latest watchOS 11.1 version. I have a watch faces app where I download new still and live photos. It had been working fine until recently. When I went into the app to download a new live photo, I received the following message: The date app and complication are not available on your Apple Watch. Instructions say to fix this, go to settings and turn off the “always on” display feature (mine is not on). Then it says to update to the latest version of watchOS and to restart both phone/watch. I’ve done all of these things and I still get the same message. I am able to download images to use as watch faces, but they are still images (not the live ones I want). Any thoughts on how to fix the missing “date app”?
