I'd really appreciate some swift practical help please as I am cancelling Dropbox in one week's time when my sub runs out.
Having retired yesterday I have just spent a couple of hours moving folders containing many hundreds of files from Dropbox to iCloud Drive but the folders are mostly empty, showing 0 bytes.
Why? Where have the files gone?

Back them up to a external SSD before you move them to iCloud.
I've just transferred loads of files to iCloud and they are showing as 0 bytes
