External USB DAC audio dropouts - still happening...
Mac studio M1 max, 64GB ram
macOS Sonoma 14.7.1 (but also happened with Ventura)
RME Fireface UFX II (firmware v26, driver v4.17)
Logic pro 11.1 (also happened with LPX)
This problem has been reported many times in multiple threads, but I'm starting a new one since I couldn't reply in the previous ones. I do audio production and keep having audio dropouts while using Logic Pro. Everything is updated as of Nov 20th 2024, and STILL this issue keeps happening. When the dropout happens, audio stops working both in Logic and also in Finder, browsers, VLC or any other player. Changing to Mac Studio Speakers activates audio again, but when changing back to the usb DAC still there's no audio.
I have the feeling it happens more often when the computer is under heavy cup pressure, like during mixing sessions. But it has also happened during recording sessions with zero load on the cpu. A full restart usually fixes the problem temporarily, but it is persistent and keeps happening.
In case this has happened to anybody else, when using SoundID speaker correction sometimes instead of the USB DAC not working, all of a sudden a super loud, piercing high pitched noise would blast through the speakers. A full restart would also fix this, but as you can imagine it's been a major fear when hosting sessions with clients. Just in case anyone experienced this nightmare, I could fix it exporting the correction EQ setting and importing it in the Room EQ of TotalMix, and not using the plugin/standalone version.
PLEASE Apple we need some solutions. In my opinion the hardware developers are not to blame since (as far as I've seen reported) this happens with multiple models across all ARM computers.
Mac Studio, macOS 14.7
