iOS 18.1.1 Update Issues on iPhone

Help. HELP. Help. APPLE is non-responsive on problems with 18.1.1 Update. My calendar is not searchable. My voicemails are gone. My battery is heating up during charging. This has to be fixed. This is the worst of the worst updates. So many parts of the phone not working properly. APPLE - what are you doing? Leave the formatting alone. And to add to the problems - after the update - had over 30 calls come in from spammers and unknowns - How do we get APPLE to withdraw 18.1.1 and/or fix these problems?

I contacted apple support and the tech walked me through a number of steps and the calendar search issue was resolved. The whole process took about 20 minutes until he got the right steps. It involved turning off the iCloud sync and turning it back on after a few minutes. I’m not sure about the rest of it but maybe that helped. Recommend calling Apple

Hopefully, this may help. If not, please create a new post specific to issues you may have after updating to iOS 18.2

Apple iOS 18.2 public release is rolling out around the world in many (all?) countries today. I watched a video from someone in Australia an hour ago and he’d installed the update and reported that it resolved many of his issues. The article below explains how to update. The release time in your area may not have occurred yet. You will just need to check the update option in your iPhone.

I had really weird display problems on Calendar.

  • When I scrolled from Dec. 2024 to Jan. 2025, half of January was cut off, and any dates I clicked were in December.
  • When I scrolled to Feb. 2025 and clicked a date, it displayed a date in November 2024.

It seems to have resolved itself after I fiddled with the display options (Compact, Stacked, Details, and List - I usually use List). But it's quite disturbing to encounter such quality issues from Apple. I buy Apple because I want products that work reliably. If I wanted to spend my time hacking and debugging I wouldn't have bought an iPhone.

I am also extremely dissatisfied with iOS 18.1.1 . So many things that were working beautifully are now much worse and some things seem to have a bug like for example:

  • The language keyboards. I navigate between 4 languages and it has become a nightmare as now when you select a French and English keyboard, they merge them together and most words are not corrected so you have to keep changing keyboards to see if one of them will work (even the UK or US keyboard won't correct basic english words that any English keyboard should correct!).
  • The photo gallery became a mess and I had to spend a lot of time to find all my albums and try to put them the way they were but I have only managed to make some adjustments and not return to the way it was. To go to the previous or next photo you now have to click on the x to close it which I find more annoying and time consuming than the previous arrows.
  • The calculator now shows you all the digits you are typing with the - and + and the whole screen gets filled horizontally with numbers which is really annoying.
  • Also the calculator: when you type a number and then decide you want to clear it all, you can't as the AC button disappears! So you have to delete number by number with the backward X!
  • I also noticed that my phone heats up often for no apparent reason. Just after watching a few videos or doing some scrolling and I had no such issues before.
  • There are other points too which I am not remembering at this moment. I truly hope they will give the option of returning to the previous version for those who want as honestly all the updates have made everything worse for me. I am not satisfied with one single aspect. I believe that when something works, let it be. Don't keep trying to innovate. You may please some people but you are also displeasing many, especially if many features are now worse!! Thanks for your time and I truly hope a solution will be found for the highest good of ALL!

I agree with everything you said and more. So, I made an appointment with Apple Genius Bar in Miami (yesterday) The guy told me that he didn’t know of any issues with 18.1.1.

I told him to look at Apple Community and X - there is so much out there about 18.1.1 being a disaster.

Anyway - he fixed nothing. Told me to kill my phone and reload it - but each APP would have to be downloaded one-by-one. He then told me the changes in 18.1.1 are what customers were asking for. I said “where”. He did not answer. He said - they can not respond to everyone’s problems. I told him lots of people are having trouble with calendars, voicemails, emails.

REALLY - they can’t fix this?

I think it absurd that I had to make an appointment and waste 3 hours - going to downtown - then waiting - then driving back. For NOTHING.

being a disaster.

I am Getting out of Apple - their support team is so non responsive.

This update is a disaster. For a month now I have barely been able to communicate with my husband (android user) via text. Messages disappear, they sometimes come from his work phone number (which I have actually removed from my contacts all together) text history is completely gone. I have restored the device to factory settings and done all the troubleshooting with not one or two but 4 reps at Apple. They always send a nice follow up email that they are working on the issue with no ETA for resolution. I have been a loyal apple customer for years and years and I am giving them one more week to fix this or I am switching to Android. Apple knows this update is a disaster and affecting a multitude of functions so why has the update not been walked back? I also find it interesting they are not reporting on this at all-suspect.

have had lots of issues with my iPhone after the 18.1.1 update as well, including all kinds of weird problems with my calendar. I had the same issues you had plus it showed events and reminders from over a year ago that were not supposed to repeat. I finally got the calendar fixed by toggling the views back and forth but had to manually delete the old dates. I have also had issues being able to send texts but finally found a setting that the update must have changed.

The biggest issue I have not been able to resolve is a connection problem. I THINK cellular and WiFi are clashing with each other therefore preventing me from being able to connect if they are both turned on. I have to continuously go back and forth turning one or the other off and sometimes it doesn’t make any difference. But other times it works as it should. I have gone through all my settings and can’t find anything different. What is going on????
