Apple Music on Android Auto Mutes Itself

When playing music through Android Auto, Apple Music will go mute after 5-30 minutes. On the screen I can see that playback is still continuing, but there is no audio. This seems to be related to how audio is managed between Apple Music and Navigation. I notice once the music is muted, if navigation reads a direction, the music will be audible with the navigation directions, and then mutes again.

Apple Music is also the only music app I use that outside of Android Auto will get into a state where the audio doesn't duck when directions are read. It seems these could be related.

The interval is seemingly random, and force stopping the app brings that back to normal for an hour or so. This does not happen with Spotify on the same device, which leads me to believe this is an Apple Music-specific issue. Pausing and playing the music brings the audio back every time, but only for another ~30 minutes.
